Chadderton-based J Greenwood Builders has secured £13m in contracts from housing provider Jigsaw Homes Group to develop three major schemes.

They will help address the growing need for more affordable housing in the North of England.

The firm is working with Jigsaw to create homes that are both affordable and of high quality, highlighting the commitment both organisations share in meeting the local housing need.

The £13m contracts consist of three separate schemes across the North West including 35 apartments for social rent in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Tameside on former brownfield land, a two-storey block of apartments with support also in Tameside and 19 bungalows for social rent in Cheshire.

Adrian Rooney, managing director of J Greenwood Builders, said: “Our programme of works with Jigsaw will play a key part in helping to address the shortage of affordable homes throughout the North of England.

“At a time when there’s a critical need for affordable housing, these developments represent hope for families and individuals in search of stable, comfortable living conditions. Together, we are committed to helping shape a future where quality housing is accessible to all.”

Garnet Fazackerley, operations director of development at Jigsaw Homes Group, said: “Affordable and supported housing has never been more in demand, so it is hugely important that we can work with trusted and committed partners to help us deliver this.

“With J Greenwood’s team we are confident we can deliver quality, affordable housing that meets the needs of our future tenants.”
