Specialist housing association secures £10m to boost long term growth strategy

A Manchester-based supported housing landlord for people with a learning disability and autistic people, has received £10m of funding from NatWest for the development and growth of its portfolio.

Golden Lane Housing provides opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autistic people to live independent lives through access to good quality housing that meets their needs.

The company provides supported living housing for more than 2,800 people across the UK and helps hundreds more through access to housing information and advice.

The £10m funding deal will significantly aid Golden Lane Housing’s long term growth strategy, bolstering its asset base and supporting further property acquisitions so that it can continue to meet the ever growing need across the country in providing opportunities for people to live independently at the heart of their communities.

Golden Lane Housing’s ambitious, 10-year development programme, aims to grow the organisation significantly, to keep up with the demands for new homes and help more people to live as independently as possible.

Chief executive, John Verge, said “This is an important deal for Golden Lane Housing as the funding we have received will allow us to continue to achieve our vision of providing the individuals we serve with access to good quality housing that meets their needs.

“We want to empower people with a learning disability and autistic people to have authority over where and how they live, and the funding we have received from NatWest is crucial to achieving this.

“Continued expansion of our property portfolio across England, Wales and Northern Ireland means we can continue to provide access to bespoke housing solutions that are tailored to specific needs.”

With an estimated £340m of public and private capital investment needed each year to meet the current demand for specialist housing in the England, the sector’s long term sustainability is dependent on financial support from the likes of NatWest.
