Stockport headquartered Earth Environmental and Geotechnical (EEG) has been acquired by Technics’, a move that will increase the Surrey-based group’s resources by 50%.

These include EEG’s offices in Stockport, Redcar, Bath, and Reading.

The market for environmental and geotechnical advisor businesses is hot right now, with strong competition for businesses with complementary skills and can add a new geographic base to acquiring businesses.

Technics already has additional offices in Nottingham and Wakefield and says the deal will enable the ground engineering team to offer multiple consultancy services nationwide. EEG will also contribute additional value to the project lifecycle of infrastructure and development projects.

“We are excited by the opportunity this acquisition provides to our existing team and the staff in EEG,” said John MacIntyre, Technics Managing Director. “When we first started our discussions with Adam Czarnecki, we could see so many synergies in our values, our professional approach to projects, and the value we offer to our clients. We are delighted to finalise this acquisition and look forward to demonstrating the additional value this brings to many of our stakeholders.”

EEG, which offers construction services across ground engineering, engineering geology, contaminated land, ecology, flood risk assessments, mining studies, and drainage design, was founded in 2013 by Adam and Elizabeth Czarnecki.

Adam Czarnecki will continue in a Business Development role, and the Regional Directors Simon Leat, John Grace, and Paul Finnimore will remain too.

Adam Czarnecki said: “Our relationship started several years ago when we worked together on many large geotechnical projects. The takeover allows us to offer our mutual clients a wide range of site investigation, surveying, and construction services across a number of regional offices across the UK”.

Jeremy Cole, Partner at Cole Associates Corporate Finance advised Adam and Liz Czarnecki on the sale of the company while legal advice to the shareholders was provided by Andy Curwen, Gorvins Solicitors. This is the third deal Cole has handled in the environmental and geotechnical advisory sector in the past two years, with two more in the pipeline.
