Former council offices could be converted to housing as agent brings site to market
Acting on behalf of Wirral Council, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has brought a prominent Birkenhead building, which previously housed council offices, to market.
Hamilton Building comprises 32,691 sq ft of accommodation on a 1.37-acre site.
It is suitable for re-use, refurbishment or redevelopment, subject to the granting of the necessary planning permission.
The four-storey building is located to the south of Conway Street and borders the Midtown regeneration area to the south.
It is surrounded by various uses including the Mallory & Irvine offices, leisure and residential.
Oliver Williams, regional land manager at LSH, said: “We are experiencing continued demand for strategically located assets across the Wirral Peninsula and this site presents a unique opportunity in the heart of a regeneration zone.
“We look forward to receiving expressions of interest from a range of local and national developers.”

LSH was appointed by Wirral Council in 2023 to advise on its strategic disposal proposal, which has seen a number of sites earmarked for residential development to help meet the council’s ongoing housing delivery requirements.
