Filtronic wins £16.8m contract with SpaceX

Filtronic, a designer and maker of products for the aerospace, defence, space and telecoms infrastructure markets, has won a new contract with American space technology giant SpaceX valued at $20.9m/£16.8m.

This deal, which is to be fulfilled in both FY2025 and FY2026, means Leeds-based Filtronic’s Board is now confident it will exceed current market expectations for revenue and profit in both FY2025 and FY2026.

Nat Edington, chief executive officer, said: “We are pleased to have secured this substantial order, which underscores Filtronic’s reputation for delivering high-performance radio frequency solutions to our market leading customer.

“This contract, alongside our growing momentum in strategic markets, provides us with increased confidence in our ability to exceed our growth targets for FY2025 and FY2026.”

The contract, however, will be serviced from Sedgefield, County Durham.

In 2022 Filtronic opened a new design centre in Manchester focused on developing mmWave technology for satellite communications applications. At the time, Tudor Williams, Director of Technology at Filtronic said: “The Manchester design centre will further help us to pursue our strategy of targeting satellite communications as a key vertical market for Filtronic’s mmWave systems expertise.”
