Global beauty products retailer selects Arndale as its second Manchester site

Manchester Arndale

Beauty products retailer, Sephora, has become the latest international business to take space at Manchester Arndale after agreeing a 10-year lease to occupy a 7,300 sq ft space.

Founded in 1969, Paris-based Sephora has grown to more than 2,700 stores across 34 countries and over the past few years has been expanding its presence across the UK, with Manchester Arndale set to be its eighth UK outlet on its opening later this year.

Last October Sephora announced it will open a new store at the Liverpool One retail centre this spring.

Stocking more than 300 skincare, cosmetic and beauty brands, including Charlotte Tilbury, Glow Recipe, Medik8, Rare Beauty, Sol de Janeiro, and Tom Ford, Sephora says it has become a go-to destination for UK shoppers.

As well as stocking an extensive range of beauty brands, Sephora will also have its own dedicated Sephora Collection section to showcase its own range of cosmetics, body care and hair care.

Last May Sephora opened its first Manchester outlet at the Trafford Centre.

Sarah Boyd, Managing Director, Sephora UK, said: “Manchester showed us phenomenal support when we opened our first store in the region, which blew away all our expectations.

“We are thrilled to be bringing a second beauty playground to our customers in this vibrant and culturally rich city, allowing us to reach even more shoppers with a city centre location at Manchester Arndale.

“We already know there is strong appetite from beauty enthusiasts in Manchester as we saw 2,000 eager customers queue on official opening day last year, and we look forward to recreating the same energy at Manchester Arndale as we continue to provide a beauty experience like no other.”

Manchester Arndale welcomed 23 new tenants during 2024, ranging from established brands such as Go Outdoors, B&M, Space NK and Rituals, through to online favourites such as BPerfect, PureSeoul, Represent, and Trailberg, with the latter two selecting the centre as its first physical retail space.

M&G Real Estate and Global Mutual act as joint asset managers of Manchester Arndale.

Steve Gray, Head of European Retail Asset Management at Global Mutual, said: “Sephora is an excellent addition to the Manchester Arndale line-up as it cements our position as the go-to destination for beauty and fashion brands.”

Scott Linard, Portfolio Director for M&G Real Estate, said: “Following a bumper 2024, Sephora’s signing helps us start 2025 with a bang, and we hope to welcome even more exciting names during the next 12 months.”

Metis Real Estate and Time Retail Partners are Manchester Arndale’s retained letting agents, with Green & Partners retained lease advisory agents.
