Friday High Five – what’s in the news this week

For better or for worse, in sickness or in health, all of our selected stories for this weekly wrap feel like they are pivotal plot twists in an ongoing story.

We’ve been chasing blueblooded landowner Kinrise for ages about rumours in the Manchester property world that they have been trying to boot out the owners of Inc & Co (one now in prison, two on the lam) from their tidy office suite just off Manchester’s Albert Square. So it feels like an important staging point in that sorry tale that Kinrise confirmed this week that it had concluded a long process to finally evict them.

Mystery surrounds the identity of the consortium that wants to buy Salford Red Devils Rugby League Club, and develop the adjacent site. So far only Salford City Council and the Rugby Football League know their identities and intentions. As the season gets underway, it needs sorting soon.

The army of glamorous influencers that has given In the Style Fashion such a visible profile haven’t been able to stave off a move towards administration. I’m still pondering what a reluctance by the administrators to share a statement this morning means.

We’re at the beginning of the journey for new mutual bank North West Mutual Ltd, which is preparing a banking licence application to submit to the Bank of England in late 2025 and wants to open 60 branches.

The first trading update from Applied Nutrition, following their market debut in October, needed to be a good one, and it was.

Their founder and chief executive Thomas Ryder, who will be speaking at our Rainmakers conference on the 26th of March about the road to the IPO, will be pumped up that the business is on course to smash its targets.

The essence of what we do is telling stories, whether that’s in words, videos, or in a live event setting. It’s going to be a great show and last year we had to turn people away because it sold out. Get your tickets today.

Finally, lots of love to you all on this St Valentine’s Day, whatever your plans tonight and over the weekend.
