£20m flagship car showroom completed after six years of planning

A £20m flagship BMW and MINI car showroom in Handforth Dean, Cheshire, has been completed.
The design and build contract, on behalf of dealership group, Halliwell Jones, was fulfilled by Caddick.
The Halliwell Jones Wilmslow project has seen the construction of a 61,494 sq ft, multi-storey car dealership, comprising complex reinforced concrete basement construction and all associated structures on a geotechnically challenging site.
The development incorporates showrooms and display areas, workshop and bodyshop, employee offices, car parking facilities, and all associated ramps to access each level of the development.
The BREEAM Very Good dealership replaces former premises in Wilmslow and will provide customers across the North West with an enhanced car showroom and service suite to buy, part-exchange and maintain their BMW and MINI vehicles.
Throughout construction, Caddick teamed up with Halliwell Jones to deliver its Cars of the Future workshop for Year 4 students at St Benedict’s Primary School in Handforth.
Paul Dodsworth, Caddick Construction Group’s Managing Director, said: “We have delivered an extensive portfolio of car showrooms and dealerships over the years, which spans the North West, North East and Yorkshire, making us the perfect fit for this fantastic new build scheme.
“As with any dealership development, there is a bespoke element for end users and it has been a pleasure to bring the team’s extensive expertise to this project for our valued client, Halliwell Jones.”
Phillip Jones, Managing Director of the Halliwell Jones Group, said the project was more than six years in the planning and construction phase and is easily the firm’s largest and most expensive development to date.
Caddick’s North West team comprises more than 130 members of staff and operates from its Warrington and Kendal offices.
