Andy Westbrook to join DC Advisory to build northern presence

Andy Westbrook

Andy Westbrook is to join DC Advisory, the international investment bank, as Managing Director based in the firm’s Manchester office.

The former senior partner at Deloitte, and one of the heavyweight Rainmakers of the last twenty years, has been hired to drive DC Advisory’s North presence as the business scales its activity across the UK, joining an experienced team of 20 in Manchester and 230 in the UK.

He brings close to 30 years experience, most recently at Deloitte as Practice Senior Partner for the North West, leading all activity and personnel in the North and Scotland.

Deloitte’s decision to withdraw from the regions rocked the market last year, and all eyes have been on what Westbrook might do next, as other advisory firms move in on the market.

But Tim Morris, DC Advisory’s UK CEO couldn’t hide his glee at the signing, referring to the retreat from the regions by Deloitte.

“We are thrilled to welcome Andy to the Manchester team,” he said.

“Where other businesses have scaled back their Northern presence in recent years, DC Advisory has invested considerably in senior talent, deepening relationships with private equity and tech-enabled businesses that are thriving in the region.

“I have no doubt Andy’s exceptional track record advising clients and his experience building a successful M&A business will genuinely make a difference for our clients and colleagues.”

Westbrook’s reputation is as one of the region’s leading advisors who has worked on some of the region’s biggest deals.

He has experience across multiple sectors, particularly Business Services, Consumer, Real Estate, and the Sports space. He has advised on more than 175 transactions, notably: advising NRG Riverside on its sale to Astatine; Apparel Brands on its sale to True Capital; and Absolutely Courier on its sale to DPD.

DC Advisory’s UK business has a strong track record across a variety of sectors and solutions, advising on 47 UK transactions in 2024, with a value of over £7.5bn in Q4 2024 alone.

Andy Westbrook said: “DC Advisory has built a strong reputation in Manchester and the UK, alongside genuinely integrated international expertise. I’m looking forward to joining a firm that shares my values and commitment to putting clients first and I can’t wait to be a part of DC Advisory’s Northern growth.”

This marks the 34th senior hire for the international firm in 24 months as DC Advisory, along with shareholder Daiwa Securities Group Inc., continues to invest in the acquisition of top talent to deliver the premier, mid-market full-service investment bank, globally.
