Cult coffee brand announces plans to open in Manchester’s St Michael’s this summer

Grind, the cult coffee brand, is taking 3,021 sq ft of ground floor space at Relentless Developments’ No.1 St Michael’s scheme.
It will be the coffee brand’s first northern location alongside its portfolio of London-based cafés, scafes and coffee trucks.
Known for its all-day coffee shops serving speciality-grade coffee, fresh, seasonal food, and cocktails, Grind will be bringing its extensive menu to Manchester this summer, from takeaway coffees to bottomless brunches.
Grind joins a raft of iconic brands taking space at the development, including global Japanese-Peruvian restaurant group, Chotto Matte and Paris-based Big Mamma Group, which last week announced the impending opening of its Circolo Popolare restaurant.
In October last year, media company Channel 4 also signed a deal for 12,293 sq ft at No.1 St Michael’s, occupying half of floor eight alongside international law firm, Pinsent Masons.
US-based, publicly-trading company, S&P Global Inc and global computing firm, Arm are also moving into the building when it opens, alongside commercial law firm, Hill Dickinson and premium serviced office provider, Gilbanks.
In addition to the rooftop restaurant and ground floor F&B (food and beverage) offer, a total of nine floors of best-in-class office space complete No.1 St Michael’s, which is set to become the city’s first fully-let Net Zero Carbon commercial development both in operation and delivery.
Gary Neville, director at Relentless Developments, said: “The ambition for St Michael’s was to create a landmark that will become an economic driver for Manchester and bring together major names in a world class, sustainable development.
“Attracting brands like Grind, who have yet to set foot outside the capital, is a massive achievement and testament to how hard we’ve been working to deliver our vision for the scheme and city as a whole.”
David Abrahamovitch, Grind Founder & CEO said: “We’ve always said that if we were to do a big site outside of London, the first place we would go would be Manchester.
“My wife is Mancunian and her whole family live in Manchester, so I’ve spent a lot of time there over the years and I’ve always thought that a Grind would work well.”
He added: “We’ve looked at various locations over the years, but thanks to Gary and the team at Relentless we think we’ve finally found the perfect home for Grind in St Michael’s, in the heart of Manchester.”
