Investment pays off for packaging manufacturer

A FAMILY-owned packaging manufacturer is expecting record turnover this year after investment in new products and technology led to increased orders.

Poynton-based Clingfoil, which was set up by brothers Paul and Mark Kenyon in 1982, is expecting turnover to top £5m for the first time this year, up 10%on last year.

The growth in online shopping has driven demand for Clingfoil’s self-seal mail-bags, while investment in new machinery has enabled the firm to expand its range of pallet- wrap products.

A strategic focus on winning new business has seen around 50 new accounts opened this year, adding to a customer base of 2,300. Three staff have been added to the 20-strong workforce as well.

Investment has continued in the company’s infrastructure too, with £30,000 on an additional rewinding machine after increased demand for pallet
wraps.  A 1,000 sq ft mezzanine floor is to be built in the warehouse, increasing Clingfoil’s production storage unit, while an extra vehicle has been added to the company’s fleet.

Managing director Mark Kenyon said told TheBusinessDesk.com that Clingfoil’s growth is the result of an “absolute focus on customer service.”

“While we have grown sales and customers we have focused really hard on building relationships and on delivering great customer service, which has built confidence in us.

“We have had to be flexible too – and always looking to add new products all the time – we are a distributor for a company called FP, which makes air-bags for packaging, and sales of these products have quadrupled in the last year.”
