£55m pipeline gives Bardsley foundations for growth

DUKINFIEELD-based Bardsley Construction is predicting a strong year, with a 5% increase in turnover, on the back of its £55m pipeline of business.
The £80m turnover company is benefiting from its strong ties with the public sector and clients include local authorities, education bodies, housing associations and health authorities. Around 78% of its contract workload is secured from repeat clients.
The company employs more than 240 staff and has completed 128 consecutive projects within programme.
The stability brought by its pipeline of public sector work has led Bardsley to re-start construction work on private housing schemes at Dukinfield Golf Club, The Boatyard at Worsley and King Edward Court at Hyde. Of the 41 units at the three schemes, 68% have been sold/exchanged or reserved.
Chairman Wayne Bardsley said: “We have made an encouraging start to 2010 after what has been a very hard year for the construction sector as a whole. We have £55m of construction work for 2010 and we’re building houses again.
He added: “Although it’s been a very tough year for us all in construction we’ve emerged stronger, fitter and more focused for the years ahead.”
The firm has also appointed Stephen Purkis as group finance director.
He was previously group finance director for business-to-business services company Resource Group, and his experience covers commercial, operational management and company restructuring, primarily within the facilities management sector.
