Staff vote for strike action at Urenco’s uranium enrichment plant in Cheshire
Members of the GMB Union at Urenco’s Cheshire-based uranium processing plant in Capenhurst, have voted for strike action in a dispute over pay.
More than 80% of GMB members, the largest union at the Capenhurst enrichment site, have voted to take strike action.
The ballot opened on July 21, 2026 and closed yesterday (August 18), following protracted pay negotiations that began at the end of 2025.
Union members are demanding a pay rise of at least 4.5%, in line with RPI in September 2025.
