Bloor Homes seeks views on slimmed down sustainable community in Weaverham

CGI of Weaverham plans

Private housebuilder, Bloor Homes, has launched a public consultation on its emerging plans for a new, sustainable community on land to the south of Weaverham, in Cheshire, and is inviting local people to share their views.

The company has reduced its original plans for the site from 1,100 homes to 900, which would include up to 45% affordable housing, set within a network of extensive green spaces at the landscape-led proposal.

Carefully shaped by the existing woodland, trees and hedgerows, the development has been designed to enhance the site’s natural character while delivering much needed new homes.

There would also be a new through road providing a direct connection from the A49 to Northwich Road.

As part of the plans, Bloor Homes is proposing more than 12 hectares of new publicly accessible green space.

Land has also been identified for the possible expansion of local schools, and there will be approximately £5m in Community Infrastructure Levy, plus Section 106 requirements.

Toby Hudson, strategic land director at Bloor Homes, said: “Our vision for Weaverham South is to create a natural extension to the village, on land identified by Cheshire West and Chester Council as a key location to help meet the borough’s future housing needs.

“Alongside up to 900 new homes, including up to 45% affordable housing, the plans would create new green spaces, improve walking and cycling connections and safeguard land for the future expansion of local schools.”

He added: “The proposals have been carefully shaped to support Weaverham’s future while respecting the village’s character and surrounding landscape.

“As we develop the proposals, local feedback will play an important role in finalising the plans. We encourage everyone to attend our drop-in event, visit the website and share their views as we work towards submitting our application later this year.”

The consultation runs until  September 21, 2026.

The local community can find out more about the proposals and share their views online by visiting www.weaverhamsouth.co.uk, emailing info@weaverhamsouth.co.uk or by calling the freephone line on 0800 689 1095 (Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm).

A public drop-in event will also be taking place on Monday, September 14, 3pm-7.30pm at Weaverham Community Centre, Russet Road, Weaverham, where members of the project team will be available to discuss the plans, answer questions and listen to feedback from the community.

Bloor Homes is expected to submit an outline planning application for Weaverham South to Cheshire West and Chester Council later this year.
