Applied Nutrition founders take £19.25m off the table in share sales
Applied Nutrition founders Thomas Ryder and Steven Granite have sold a chunk of shares in the business, landing the pair a combined windfall of £19.25m.
Broker Panmure Liberum placed the 7,000,000 ordinary shares at a price of 275 pence, which represents approximately 2.80% of Applied Nutrition’s issued share capital.
It’s the first sale of shares by the founders since the Liverpool-based sports nutrition firm floated in October 2024, which was voted Deal of the Year in the North West Rainmaker Awards in 2025, and has been presented to the markets this morning as a move to “diversify their asset base”.
Ryder remains Applied Nutrition’s largest shareholder with a 32.46% holding.
Both Ryder and Granite have undertaken not to dispose of any further ordinary shares for 180 days.
The business has performed well since the IPO. In August, the company revealed a 40% jump in profit in the current year, prompting an upgrade in its guidance for the next financial year too.
It expects to make adjusted EBITDA of £43.3m for the 2026 financial year, ahead of market expectations of £42m, up from £30.9m the previous year.
Revenue is expected to increase 50% year-on-year to £160m, compared with £107m in the 2025 financial year and ahead of the £148.4m forecast.
In April JD Sports sold its stake which yielded approximately £49 million to the sports retailer, satisfying demand for the shares at a price of £2.15 a share.
