LANDLORD Land Securities has signed up four new tenants in Liverpool.

Mothercare and Swedish hardware chain Clas Ohlson are both opening stores in its Clayton Square site in April 2010.

Maplin Electronics has recently opened its doors in the same property while supermarket chain Aldi is opening in the former Woolworth’s unit in St John’s Centre.

James Larmuth, Land Securities portfolio manager, said: “There’s no doubt the recession and the arrival of Liverpool One have had an impact on Liverpool High Street. However, the retail market in the city has settled and we’ve seen increasing consumer confidence from the end of last year.”

LAW firm DWF is expanding its footprint in Liverpool and taking an extra space at The Plaza building on Old Hall Street.

The firm’s 30-strong Resolution Law team, which deals with claims-based insurance law, is taking 8,000 sq ft on the ninth floor.

The division was set up in June last year to work for claimants direct or through their insurance companies. Partner David Blaquière said resolution law is a growing part of the business.
