Shred-it expands Sale service centre

DOCUMENT destruction company Shred-it has extended its shared service centre (SSC) and taken on 10 new staff at its UK headquarters in Sale.

The company has taken an extra 4,500 sq ft at its premises at Corner House in Sale.

It said the investment has created 10 jobs at the SSC, which will eventually house 50 employees, to provide central administrative support to the firm’s network of 17 branches nationwide in the UK.

The company first set up its business operations in Manchester in September 2007, with just five staff.

Robert Guice, executive vice president Shred-it UK, said: “Four years later we are delighted to be renewing our commitment to the area and to be in a position to take on more staff as we seek to ensure that the continued growth of our UK business does not compromise our high standards of customer service.”

The company said that demand for confidential document and hard-drive destruction services has grown as public and private sector organisations become ever more aware of the potential reputation damage that will follow the release of private information entering the public domain.

“This awareness is fuelling demand for our services”, Mr Guice added.
