Business growth under the spotlight

BUSINESS growth in Manchester will be discussed at the first of a new series of forums which aims to engage public and private sector firms.
The free event – which takes place today at Manchester Town Hall – has been organised by the National Business Awards in partnership with Orange.
It will be chaired by television presenter John Stapleton and the keynote speaker will be Peter Marks, chief executive of The Co-operative Group.
The event is the first of a new series called the ‘Business Growth Summits’.
Other speakers will include: Dr Moneeb Awan, managing director of eSAY and president of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce; Clare Young, former Apprentice contestant and founder of Elegant Venues; Darren Hopper, head of propositions and acquisitions, SME segment marketing at Orange UK; and Angie Robinson, chief executive of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
Lorraine Agnew, programme director of the National Business Awards, said: “Recognising business excellence is important to encourage public and private sector organisations to continue to innovate, grow and excel throughout 2010 and beyond.
“We are launching the Business Growth Summits to offer an independent platform for business leaders and entrepreneurs to share their success stories and views on where the real challenges and business opportunities are going to be over the course of the next year or so.
“We’ve had great response to the new initiative so far and urge entrepreneurs and business leaders across the UK to get involved.”
The National Business Awards is an organisation which aims to ‘connect’ professionals through its annual awards ceremony, year-round conferences and round table events.
