Oldham businesswoman nominated in ‘Oscars’ of female entrepreneurship

AN ENTREPRENEUR from Oldham has made it into the final of this year’s Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award.
Gill Riley, founder and managing director of construction company GGR-UNIC, is among the four finalists in the contest which aims to bring together shining examples of business success across sectors ranging from retail to construction and hospitality.
Each nominee was judged, not only on financial results and commercial success but also on how each business embedded social and environmental responsibility within their businesses.
Other finalists include Louise Wymer, director of Staffordshire-based catering company, The Catering Academy, which also has an office in Warrington.
Additionally, Victoria Stapleton, founder of fashion retailer, Brora, and Laura Tenison, founder and managing director of retail company, JoJo Maman Bebe.
Sally Warmington, brand director of Veuve Clicquot, said: “This year we have nominated four women who have embedded social and environmental responsibility within the heart of their business in addition to delivering a healthy balance sheet.
“The move reflects the ever-changing nature of business practice and our desire to showcase four women who fully embrace the nature of the awards and can provide inspiration for other up and coming entrepreneurs in the future.”
The winner of will be announced in London on March 23.
