Investment bank Nomura to advise Red Knights

INVESTMENT bank Nomura is to advise the Red Knights on their possible bid for Manchester United.

Despite chief executive David Gill’s insistence last week that the club’s American owners, the Glazer family, are not selling, the campaign for a change in ownership continues to gather pace.

The Red Knights are led by economist Jim O’Neill, a former non-executive director of Manchester United and a highly respected figure in the City.

In a statement the Red Knights said: “Nomura will work closely with the Red
Knights, the Manchester United Supporters’ Trust and other potential investors to co-ordinate and formulate the proposal to be put to the Glazer family.

“Nomura is beginning its role by contacting the many expressions of financial support the Red Knights have received to date.”

There is opposition to the Florida-based Glazer family because they have saddled the club with £500m of debt.
