MIPIM: St Peter’s Partnership aims to lure investers

ARGENT’S joint chief executive David Partridge announced the launch of the St Peter’s Partnership at the Manchester stand at MIPIM yesterday.
The Partnership will work strategically to attract further investment from occupiers and funders and to help the area moves forward as a business, leisure, retail and cultural district, he said.
The Central Library and Town Hall extension are set to be refurbished over the next four years.
Meanwhile, Argent and the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund have plans to redevelop Elisabeth House into a 270,000 sq ft office building called One St Peter’s Square – planning permission was granted in February.
Mr Partridge said: “St Peter’s Square has the potential to become the premier district in Manchester, as well as an area for cultural activity both within the square itself and inside the refurbished Town Hall, Library and One St Peter’s Square.
“The square is part of a rich network of public spaces in Manchester and the aim is to promote this currently underperforming square as an essential part of the urban fabric, similar to other successful areas such as Albert Square and Piccadilly Gardens.”
Listed buildings in St Peter’s Square and the surrounding area include the Town Hall, Central Library, the Midland Hotel, and the former Free Trade Hall – now the Radisson Edwardian hotel.
