Appointments: BakerTilly adds to forensics; Hertel hires business development manager

BAKER Tilly has bolstered its forensic services team in the north with the appointment of Jackie Gillson as associate director.

Joining Baker Tilly from KPMG, Gillson brings with her more than seven years’ experience of investigations and forensic accountancy, including working on fraud, financial misstatement and regulatory compliance investigations for a wide variety of both public and private sector organisations in the UK and overseas.

Her principal areas of work will include fraud investigations, commercial and contractual disputes, asset tracing, assisting clients responding to regulatory investigations, business and share valuations and partnership and shareholder disputes amongst others.

Gillson said: “Baker Tilly’s Forensic Services team has an excellent reputation within the marketplace and I am confident that my skills will not only compliment but also enhance the firm’s existing offering.”

CONSTRUCTION and maintenance services company Hertel has appointed John Sloan as regional business development manager for the west and Wales.

The new role, based at Hertel’s offices in Preston Brook, will involve driving company awareness in key regional areas with a view to securing new contracts across the range of Hertel’s disciplines.

Newcastle-born Sloan joins Hertel from Oltec Group FM, where he provided on-going support to the business development division in tender submissions and pre-contract discussions.

Having been involved in both operational management and business sales for more than 20 years, he has proven results in the oil and gas, power, petrochemical and off-shore sectors and has previously worked with customers including ICI, Conoco, BP and Shell.

Hertel employs more than 500 staff in the west at sites such as the Stanlow oil refinery, Rocksavage chemical works, Fiddlers Ferry power station and the nuclear plant at Sellafield. In Wales, the company works on nuclear sites at Wylfa and Trawsfynydd, Pembroke refinery and Aberthaw power station.
