Major European event comes to Manchester

A TWO-day European conference is to be held in Manchester for the €355m  INTERREG IVB North West Europe programme this December.

Until 2013, INTERREG IVB North West Europe will invest €355m from the European Regional Development Fund into the economic, environmental, social and territorial future of North West Europe.

Although more than 50% of the funds have already been allocated, €185m is still available for projects.

The conference, at Manchester Central, will explain the kind of projects the programme is willing to fund.

Up to 400 delegates and potential project promoters from across North West Europe will attend to find out what requirements will be needed if projects are to successfully apply for a slice of the funds.

Paul Simpson, managing director of Visit Manchester, the tourist board for Greater Manchester, said: “We look forward to welcoming the INTERREG delegates to Manchester. The ongoing, multi-million pound redevelopment of Manchester Central will be complete in advance of the event and will ensure delegates receive the very best conference experience.

“Each and every conference win for the city-region contributes to the local economy and we’re delighted to add INTERREG to that list.”
