Building briefs: WYG relocates to Quay West; Residential planning for PZ Cussons site

CONSULTANCY firm WYG is relocating its Manchester office from Clippers Quay to Quay West in Salford Quays.

The firm has taken a 10 year lease on 10,565 sq ft of space across the third and part of the fourth floor, from landlord Peel.

Anthony Fuller, director at WYG’s Manchester office, said: “Quay West is a striking bronze curtain glazed building and widely regarded as one of the Quay’s most iconic landmarks. We have been established in Manchester for over 20 years and this new 10 year lease demonstrates our commitment to this area.”

Colliers CRE in Manchester advised WYG, while Edwards & Co and WHR were joint letting agents.

Rupert Barron, director at Colliers, said: “This deal represents outstanding value for money for WYG. The reception and common parts at Quay West have recently been refurbished and the building offers a high level of specification and is in an excellent location beside the Imperial War Museum North and across the water from MediaCityUK.”

OUTLINE planning permission has been granted for 71 residential units at the former PZ Cussons Fragrance Chemicals site in Ellesmere Port.

The planning permission, awarded by Cheshire West and Chester Council, also includes associated parking and open space.

It was negotiated to incorporate a longer time limit of five years for submitting reserved matters instead of the standard three.

Laurie Lane, senior planning consultant at CBRE North West, which secured the consent and will be marketing the site, said: “The current market remains very difficult and will continue to be challenging into 2010. By securing an extension on the permission time limit to five years, developers interested in the site will have the best possible chance of securing the necessary funding within a realistic time frame.”
