60th anniversary milestone for accountant Dunham

MANCHESTER accountant Michael Dunham is celebrating his 60th anniversary with his family firm.
It was 60 years ago tomorrow when the 16-year-old started work at the practice set up by his father, Thomas Fawcett Dunham, and he is still chairman of the Old Trafford-based firm, now called TFD Dunhams.
He is President of Manchester Building Society and is a former chairman, and acted for the famed Salford artist LS Lowry before he was famous. Lancashire Cricket Club was also a client, for some 40 years.
Managing Partner, Paul O’Brien said: “It is a quite staggering period of time that Michael has been with the practice. To put it into perspective Michael joined nearly 10 years before anyone had even heard of the Beatles at a time when Nat King Cole’s ‘Too Young’ was Number 1 in the charts and when Clement Atlee held the Prime Ministerial office.
“It is an astonishing achievement to have dedicated a full 60 years to the firm and, without Michael we would not be where we are today. Over those decades Michael has amassed an unrivalled level of experience and insight and we often refer to him as The Oracle.”
Two years ago Mr Dunham was invested as a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the accountancy profession – an honour that is bestowed upon only a small number of people.
