MMU Business dean moves to Salford

PROFESSOR Huw Morris, the dean of Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, will move to Salford University as its new pro vice chancellor this summer.
Professor Morris has been dean of MMU’s Business School for five years; he is also pro vice chancellor for Enterprise with a special responsibility for e-learning.
Salford University said his appointment will contribute to a major transformation programme at Salford.
Professor Morris will be responsible for leading on all aspects of learning and teaching strategy at the university: including the design of course portfolios, internationalising the curriculum and transforming learning and teaching technologies.
Professor Martin Hall, Salford’s vice-chancellor, said: “Huw’s appointment is an exciting opportunity for Salford, because of his outstanding success in improving teaching and learning in a number of universities, particularly his expertise in implementing innovative e-learning technologies. He is an outstanding researcher and academic leader.”
Professor Morris’ professional background is in HR, with degrees from the University of Surrey, the London School of Economics and a doctorate from the Institute of Education, London.
He has held academic posts at Imperial College, London; Kingston University and the University of the West of England, where he was Associate Dean of the Bristol Business School.
