Kukri launches student site

RUGBY kit maker Kukri has launched a dedicated new site to provide sports kits for students.

Varsitykit.com will be run by Laura Thomas, who has worked with Kukri’s managing director Phil Morris for more than eight years. She said the site has already developed relationships with 30 universities for whom it provides kit and accessories.

“Students are proud to be associated with their university and proud to play and represent their teams. Students are very tribal and we are making it very easy for them to  back their university and their team in the kit they want,” she said.

Earlier this year, retailer JD Sports took an 80% stake in Kukri in a deal worth more than £1m. The company has a turnover of £13m.
