Microsoft exec to address NW business leaders

A SENIOR Microsoft executive will tell business leaders in the North West how they can cut their IT costs and enhance their services.
James Akrigg, Microsoft’s head of technology for partners in the UK, will be the keynote speaker at The Microsoft East Lancashire Business Leaders Technology Forum event 2010.
The session, which is free to all North West business owners, senior managers and directors, will feature live demonstrations from James when it takes place on Thursday, May 27.
He will also discuss how businesses can use IT to cut costs, develop user friendly processes, and even look at cloud computing in easy to understand language.
James said: “IT is changing. In the next two years it will be significantly different. In the next 5 years it will be unrecognisable.
“This seminar will give business leaders some clear insights into technology that is driving the new efficiency and help them make their own judgements about how they can improve their processes and system reliability, as well as saving potentially huge amounts of money.”
James has worked in and around the IT industry for more than 20 years and has spent the last 9 years at Microsoft in the UK.
He has experience in infrastructure, architecture, software development, business process, information management, software and hardware technologies.
But his real passion is what technology can do to deliver real value and benefit to businesses of all sizes.
Andrew Henderson, commercial director at IT and telecoms solutions company Lanway which is sponsoring the event, said: “The seminar will help anyone in business to understand what technology has to offer now, and in the near future as it evolves.
“We are fortunate to be able to attract someone of James’ pedigree to speak at the forum. The great thing is that James is able to simplify what can be a complex mix of technologies to deliver realistic and sensible solutions in today’s business environments.
“It’s ideal for any business that is serious about transforming IT from invisible cost into a high visible value.”
The Microsoft Day is taking place at Lanway’s headquarters, which is based at the Network 65 Business Park, just off the M65 on the outskirts of Burnley.
