TEG commissions Perth plant

TEG Group, the Chorley-based environmental specialist which builds green energy plants fuelled by organic waste, said that it has begun commissioning a plant in Perth.

The Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant will be operated by TEG Biogas (Perth) Ltd – a joint venture between the company and Albion LLP.

The commissioning will include a gradual build-up of waste stocks until the plant eventually reaches full capacity by the end of the first quarter of 2012. By then, it will process 16,000 tonnes of waste and generate up to 0.7MW of electricity, as well as 0.2MW of heat to the nearby Binn Eco Park.

The company said that it was making progress with its other plants, and that it expected its Dagenham project to reach financial close by the end of the year. It could process up to 50,000 tonnes of waste if planning approval for the scheme is granted.

Construction of its fourth plant for the Greater Manchester Waste consortium will begin in the first quarter of next year, once contractor Costain completes the groundworks.

Chief executive Mick Fishwick, said: “The commissioning of the Perth AD plant heralds an exciting step change for TEG and we look forward to generating revenues from energy production for the first time, alongside the established revenues from our composting business.

“We have a significant number of projects in hand and I look forward to the development of further AD and composting plants in the near future”.
