TheBusinessDesk.com toasts third birthday

MORE than 100 business leaders joined an exclusive gathering in Manchester last night to celebrate TheBusinessDesk.com’s third birthday in the North West.

Since launching in 2008, the free-to-use website has become an essential part of the region’s business community, and now has 36,000 registered users, sends 145,000 news emails a week.

There are now 120,000 visitors to the website each month, reading more than 240,000 new pages.

Among the guests at the event at Epernay, the champagne bar, were Sir Howard Bernstein, chief executive of Manchester City Council – who raised a toast to the continuing success of TheBusinessDesk.com; Robert Hough, chairman of the North West Development Agency, Pro Manchester chief executive John Ashcroft, and Neville Richardson, the out-going chief executive of Co-operative Financial Services.

A number of leading professional advisers including Richard Bailey, Northern chairman of investment bank NM Rothschild, Simon Allport, North West senior partner of Ernst & Young, David Gray, Manchester office senior partner at DLA Piper, Alan Rigby regional director of HSBC, Dave Allanson from Lloyds Corporate Markets, Richard Bell, Jodi and Nigel Birkett from Deloitte.

Senior representatives of Gateley, JMW Solicitors, Pannone, EOS Law, Clough & Willis; Yorkshire Bank Corporate and Structured Finance, JD Sports Fashion plc, Bruntwood, MIDAS, WFEL, Ultimate Products, and the Jacobson Group, also attended.
