Work begins on £6m Speke business park

BARNFIELD Centric, the joint venture company between Barnfield Construction and Capital & Centric, has started work on the Estuary Banks business park in Speke.

The five-acre site – a former North West Development Agency project which was sold on back in May to Barnfield Centric for £1m – has received £2.54m in funding from the European Regional Development Fund.

Planning approval was granted for 82,000 sq ft of B1, B2 and B8 units in summer and the firm intends to build 20 hybrid units ranging in size from 3,000-20,000 sq ft. It expects the units will be used for office, R&D, warehouse and light industrial space.

The units have all been designed to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards and should be complete by the middle of next year. A show unit will be available from March.

Tim Heatley, director at Capital & Centric Plc, said: “Estuary Banks is a fantastic example of the sort of space that will do well in the current market.

“Companies, both local and those requiring international freight and business transport connections, will find the accommodation to provide state-of-the-art facilities for relocation or expansion.”
