Ballroom dancing draws businesses to Blackpool

THE organisation which promotes Blackpool as a tourist destination has reported a marked increase in enquiries into corporate packages including ballroom dancing lessons.
An increasing number of companies are encouraging their employees to take up team building activities such as dancing, according to research carried out by visitBlackpool.
Being able to showcase the town’s Tower Ballroom in all its finery has also proved to be an effective promotional tool.
Mandy Tythe-McCallum, business tourism manager for visitBlackpool, said: “Blackpool is famous for being the entertainment capital of the North and the resort’s Tower Ballroom is one of the best venues in the world for learning to dance.
“Strictly Come Dancing has increased awareness of dancing and led to a real rise in people who’d like to learn how to do it, or at least give it a go.
“Ballroom dancing is a real team effort and employees are finishing classes feeling energetic and motivated.
“For some workers who are fairly reserved, it’s a real liberation to be able to go out on the floor and break down barriers whilst having fun.”
