Industry honours for JMW and Exchange Chambers

LAW firm JMW and barristers’ set Exchange Chambers are both celebrating success at the national Personal Injury awards in London.

Manchester firm JMW\’s PI and clinical negligence teams were named Claimant Personal Injury Team of the Year category.

Eddie Jones, head of JMW’s Clinical Negligence department, said:

“The partners and solicitors within both departments are highly experienced and this award pays tribute to their hard work and the dedication we show to our clients. The competition in the category was tough, so to have emerged victorious is an accolade indeed.”

A team JMW collected the award last week at the Riverbank Plaza Hotel, London, at an event attended by more than 600 people.

The firm\’s personal injury and clinical negligence teams have achieved settlements totalling £75m between them over the past three years.

This month, the clinical negligence team achieved its highest damages of £6.56m for a seven-year-old boy who was left brain damaged after being starved of oxygen at birth.

Meanwhile, Exchange Chambers, the barristers\’ set with offices in Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds, won the Barristers\’ Chamber of the year prize at the awards.

The firm was praised for effectively promoting the use of alternative dispute resolution – most notably in talks between former prisoners of Guantanamo Bay and the British Government, in which Gerard Martin QC acted as lead negotiator.

Director of chambers, Tom Handley, said: “We are thrilled to be recognised as the country’s leading personal injury chambers. With strength in depth across the board, we are committed to the very highest standards.”
