Appointments: Dan Smith ‘comes home’ to join Deloitte; Butterworth Spengler expands in Liverpool

ACCOUNTANT Dan Smith is returning to his native North West to join Deloitte’s reorganisation services practice.

Mr Smith, who went to Manchester Grammar School, has 12 years’ experience in the North West restructuring market, and joins Deloitte after seven years with Ernst & Young.

Before joining Deloitte, he was working in London, where he focused partly on working-capital consultancy.

He said: “It is great to be back in the North West and working in the mainstream restructuring market. Deloitte’s reorganisation services practice is widely acknowledged as a market leader.”

Bill Dawson, partner and head of Deloitte’s reorganisation services practice in the North West, said: “Although the economy is showing some early signs of recovery, there is a long and difficult road ahead for many businesses.

“Dan’s appointment will bolster our team’s ability to secure successful outcomes for companies and lenders across the region.”

LIVERPOOL insurance brokers Butterworth Spengler has appointed three new Account Executives and set up a new corporate office in the city centre.

Andrew Thomson, Alan Tune and James Jaycock, who join the firm from Oval, specialise in commercial and general insurance brokerage.

They will work out of the company’s new corporate office at 1 Old Hall Street in Liverpool’s commercial district, which is headed up by Mark Robinson.

Butterworth Spengler will retain its UK headquarters in South Liverpool.

Mr Robinson said: “This is an exciting period of rapid growth for the company and our new corporate office in Liverpool city centre provides us with an opportunity to attract new customers and target new markets”.

John Lacey, director at Butterworth Spengler,added: “With Mark at the helm of our new city centre office confidence is high and I believe this is the right time to buck the trend and invest in new talent to help us embark on a period of expansion”.

Up to 15 staff will join the new corporate office within the next year.
