Wealth at Work MBO takes Deal of the Month

PALATINE Private Equity’s latest investment, in Liverpool company Wealth at Work, has taken the latest Deal of the Month title.

In what has been a slow period for corporate deals – the £6m secondary MBO by the Manchester-based investor, was narrowly judged the winner by TheBusinessDesk.com’s panel of judges.

Wealth at Work, an employee benefits and financial education specialist, initially received backing from LDC, which has retained a stake in the company.

In a close contest, Wealth at Work, won support from four of our nine judges, with Jonathan Boyers from KPMG, Jodi Birkett from Deloitte, Jonathan Watkins from DLA  Piper and Roddy Kilpatrick from Yorkshire Bank Corporate and Structured Finance, voting for it.

The £50m refinancing of Wilmslow-based Norcros, the company behind the Triton showers brand – was a close second-place, gaining support from Rothschild’s Andrew Thomas, Roger Hart from Addleshaw Goddard and new judge, Andy Parker from PwC, who has taken the place of the retired Colin Gillespie on the panel.

Ken Williamson of Ernst & Young and Lewis Hymanson Small corporate partner Adele Librae voted for the acquisition of corporate recovery firm MCR by US firm Duff & Phelps.
