Housing plans progress at Cuddington yoghurt factory site

TAYLOR Wimpey has submitted a reserved matters application for its plans to build 158 new houses on the site of former Nestle Ski yoghurt factory in Cuddington, Cheshire.
The scheme, which wills see the factory demolished to make way for the housing, has already secured outline planning approval and Taylor Wimpey’s planning adviser HOW Planning has now submitted a Reserved Matters application to deal with outstanding issues from an earlier application for the 9.18ha site.
In addition to the new homes, plans include areas of open space, allotments, a wild flower meadow, two children’s play areas and landscaping as well improved links with Cuddington. A proportion of the homes will be built to Lifetime Homes Standards and 47 will be affordable homes.
Gareth Owen, regional land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey North West, said: “We have taken a lot of time and great care over these plans, taking into account the sensitivities involved with the immediate landscape and ensuring the different aspects of the scheme work together to create a vibrant new community. We are looking forward to the determination of the application and hopefully we can start turning the plans into reality in 2012.”
Carol Clarke, associate at HOW Planning, said: “This is an excellent scheme which will transform what is currently a vacant, unusable site into a very attractive new development. It is our client’s vision to contribute substantially to the community and improve the overall landscape which has suffered from the derelict factory.”
