Muse lands £145m Stockport regeneration scheme

MUSE Developments, the Salford-based regeneration division of Morgan Sindall Group, has been selected as preferred development partner for the £145m regeneration of the Grand Central site next to Stockport station.
Since purchasing the site in January for £15m, Stockport Council has been procuring a development partner to deliver the ambitious redevelopment for the site.
The development will include an office quarter, public space outside the railway station with access to the town centre, a hotel and improved car parking.
Paul Smith, chief executive of Morgan Sindall, said: “We are delighted to be selected as preferred bidder on this regeneration scheme for what is set to be an exciting development for Stockport.
“Muse has been highly successful recently in securing a number of regeneration projects including Basingstoke and Deane, Warrington and Chester, which have a total development value of approximately £590m.
“Regeneration schemes are large scale and complex projects which very few companies are capable of delivering. Morgan Sindall has these capabilities and we see this part of the business as a key growth area in our medium term strategy.”
Muse will now be recommended to Stockport Council’s Executive in a report to be presented on December 16.
