Sceptre teams up with German giant for digital deal

LANCASHIRE gaming and entertainment machines provider Sceptre Leisure, has announced a deal with German manufacturer Gauselmann to develop a new digital product for pubs.
Preston-based Sceptre, will work with €1.5bn turnover Gauselmann and its British subsidiary Blueprint Gaming to develop the new product, which will strengthen its position in the digital games market.
Gauselmann, one of the largest manufacturers and operators of digital gaming machines in Europe, has developed customised hardware specifically for the UK market and Sceptre will act as the sole supplier of their range of digital gaming machines to the UK pub market.
The digital market in pubs has so far been slow to develop due to a lack of suitable products. Gauselmann has experience in developing digital products in its domestic market as customers migrate away from traditional ‘reel’-based gaming machines.
Ken Turner, chief executive of Sceptre, said: “This is an important strategic alliance for Sceptre with the market leader in the digital arena. The marketplace is beginning to evolve more quickly and our tie up with Gauselmann and Blueprint positions Sceptre at the forefront of this technology-led area at an exciting time for the industry.”
Jürgen Stühmeyer, member of the board for sales at Gauselmann group, said: “With Sceptre’s market presence, our hardware, and content from Blueprint, we believe that we can drive the progression of digital product in the UK.
“For some time we have been seeking the ideal partner and believe that with Sceptre we have created the right combination to lead and develop the undoubted digital opportunity in the UK pub market.”
