Flight comparison website ready for take-off

A NEW price comparison website for business and leisure travellers has been launched by a Salford entrepreneur.

Rafi Neumann, 26, developed TravelSpec from his bedroom in Salford, and following a soft launch last year, says the product is now ready take on the travel and tourism market.

Mr Neumann developed the site after becoming frustrated by the lack of transparency when trying to book flights online.

He worked on a flight mapping website while studying accounting and finance at Manchester Metropolitan University and spotted the need for a website which listed all scheduled flights worldwide – allowing people to pick the best price, time and route for them – without any biased results.

Mr Neumann claims TravelSpec is the only website which allows people to search through all scheduled flights worldwide.

Users select their preferred departure and arrival destinations and TravelSpec searches hundreds of travel agencies, consolidators and airlines to find the best deals on flights.

The company generates revenue through on site advertising and from the commissions paid by airlines and travel agencies that appear in the results page for price comparisons.

However, Mr Neumann emphasised that the search is open to all suppliers who wish to partner with TravelSpec, and the results are sorted by price as a default, this in no way affects the prices that are displayed in the results.

He said: “The travel industry is a saturated market which can make it very confusing when buying flights. As a keen traveller, I was tired of feeling duped so I was determined to provide people with reliable, accurate information; allowing them to make the best choice for their travel needs.

“As we’re not affiliated to any airline we’re able to put the control back into the customer’s hands, whether they’re travelling for business or pleasure.  With TravelSpec, we’ve created a way to make booking flights quick, easy and hassle-free. More importantly, we give people the whole picture – reliable, accurate information they can trust.”

The site will soon also include information on ferry and train travel, as well as hotels and cars.
