Shah prepares £25m bid for Blackburn

AN Indian businessman is understood to be carrying out due diligence on Blackburn Rovers ahead of a possible acquisition.

Saurin Shah, based in Mumbai, is said to have offered £25m for the Premiership club.

Blackburn has been open to offers for the last three years since the trustees of the late Jack Walker, who bankrolled the club, said they wanted to sell-up.

Rothschilds in Manchester has been handling the sale and is now in negotiations with London-based football agent Chris Nathaniel who is representing Mr Shah in the UK.

Mr Shah was apparently drawn to Blackburn because the town has a large number of residents of Indian and Pakistani origin.

His uncle is the vice chairman of cricket’s Indian Premier League (IPL) and he is keen to create strong links between Blackburn and the IPL.
