Windmill stuck on rival label firm
STOCKPORT-based Windmill Tapes & Labels is to buy a Congleton-based competitor, Commercial Label Products, after agreeing a £1m loan with Barclays Corporate.
The firm said that the deal would combine Windmill’s experience in medium-to-long-run flexographic label printing with CLP’s expertise in short-run label production.
Andrew Southern, managing director of Windmill Tapes & Labels Limited, said: “The acquisition of Commercial Label Products is strategically important to us and I am delighted to welcome them to the group.
“We believe the combined product offer of the two businesses is unique within the industry and offers both Windmill and CLP customers an unrivalled range of products and services.
“We are genuinely excited by the prospects for growth in our business and look forward to strengthening our relationship with Barclays as we continue our development in the future”
The relationship director from Barclays who arranged the loan, Robin Richards, said: “Windmill has proven resilient through the cycle and this is testament to their business model and the quality of the management team.
“This acquisition represents a great opportunity for the business to grow their market share and expand, even in a difficult economic climate.”
