NATIONAL Grid has bought a 38 acre development site in Carrington, south Manchester.

The company which previously owned the Carrington Plains site had been placed into administration, and the site was sold by Cushman & Wakefield on behalf of joint administrators from BDO. The price was undisclosed.

Carrington Plains is strategically located in South West Manchester close to the M60 orbital motorway network, with neighbouring occupiers including Shell UK and Saica.  Subject to planning, the site had development potential for a number of uses, including renewable energy.

Jason Print, partner at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “Carrington Plains presented an excellent opportunity to acquire a prime piece of land with great development potential in an established commercial location.

“We had a lot of interest in the site from a number of potential purchasers and are pleased to have been able to complete a deal less than seven months since our appointment as sole agents.”
