EHL Ingredients tucks into growth plans

FOOD ingredients supplier EHL Ingredients is planning fresh investment in people and machinery and is hoping annual sales will hit £5m for the first time.

The Stockport-based company, which imports, blends, packs and then sells  more than 300 food ingredients, is in bullish mood after a strong end to 2011 and a 20% surge in sales.

The family-owned company which has 25 staff is recruiting for a several new positions in sales and technical roles and expects to take on more people as the year progresses.

It also plans to launch a number of new product lines including additional allergen-free spices and seasonings, Mexican chillies, as well as new range of heat-treated lo-micro herbs and spices.

Sales director, Tasneem Backhouse, said: “We are very encouraged by the December sales report and are confident about our progress as a business.
“We are starting off 2012 on a positive note and we are aiming to increase sales this year by a further 20%, taking our annual turnover to an all-time high of £5m.
 
“We put last years’ success down to several key factors; a strong sales team, quality products, a reliable service and a significant boost in our profile.”
