Hill Dicks lawyer on song at Y-Factor

A SOLICITOR at Hill Dickinson has scooped the top prize at this year’s Y Factor talent show in Liverpool.

Nine professionals went head-to-head at the event at PanAm on the Albert Dock which raised £15,000 for the learning disability charity Mencap.

Around 200 members of Liverpool’s business community saw Helen Redmond win the contest for her rendition of ‘Stuck in the Middle With You’ by Stealers Wheel.

She said: “All my colleagues, family and friends came along to support me and I felt like such a star when I got up to sing. We had such a great time and it was fantastic that we all raised so much money for such a worthy charity.”

The other contestants were: Jonathan Owen of Sutton Kersh; Louise Lunt of Canter, Levin and Berg; Robert McCrimmon of Wilson Henry; Frank Mallon of HFM Consulting Engineers; Emma Devaney of Barclays Corporate; Catherine Evans and Alex Blythe of the Halifax; and Heather Tomlinson of Barclaycard.

A panel of judges included BBC Radio Merseyside presenter Billy Butler, DJ Mike Di Scala, vocal coach, Andrew Stephenson, and compere Roger Phillips.

Carole Headley, head of regional fundraising for Mencap North, said: “The event was a huge success and we are delighted with how much was raised. We want to thank the Merseyside business community, Professional Liverpool, Medicash and vocal coach, Andrew Stephenson.”

The event was run in partnership with Professional Liverpool and sponsored by Liverpool-based healthcare cash plan provider Medicash.
