Merseytravel boss takes Chamber chair

THE chief executive of Merseytravel, Neil Scales, has been appointed chairman of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Scales has replaced Ed Oliver, who has held the post for the last two years.

Mr Oliver said: “My time as chair has been both challenging and rewarding. Despite the tough economic climate the Chamber has continued to offer excellent services and business growth opportunities to our members.

“For the past 160 years it has been the most influential business lobbying voice in the city and will continue its vital work, representing the city’s business community under Neil’s stewardship.”

Mr Scales said: “I am looking forward to promoting the good work of the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.

“It is an exciting challenge, working with the business community and decision makers, especially in this new world of fiscal retrenchment.”
