The last parts of the old centre in Greater Manchester have been torn down and Ask is submitting a revised planning application for phase two.

In a statement Trafford Council said there have been, “positive, on-going negotiations with major retailers” over taking space at the new scheme.

Trafford executive councillor Mike Cornes said: “Improvements in the last few weeks are just part of our commitment to bring forward the all important phase two of this town centre.”

Leon Guyett, senior development executive at Manchester-based Ask said: “We are delighted that the final demolition of the old shopping centre is now complete, preparing the site for the development of phase two of Eden Square.

“We also look forward to pursuing the opportunities it will create for future development, with phase one retailers having established Eden Square as an important hub for the local community.”
