Maxgear puts pedal to metal

CYCLING equipment firm Maxgear has agreed a new sponsorship deal with Olympic road race champion Nicole Cooke to model the Champion System range.
The Manchester-based company, which is the official UK & Ireland distributor of the Champion System brand, said that it had just generated turnover of almost £250,000 in its first year of trading. The sponsorship deal will help it to make further inroads into its core cycling market, where it provides equipment to more than 100 clubs including Manchester Wheelers, Bolton Triathlon Club and Atherton Bike Club.
However, the firm said that it now intended to target other team sports clubs including running and rowing.
Maxgear company director Ciaran Dunne said: “It is an exciting time for the sport of cycling. The build up to the London 2012 Olympics will attract more people to the sport”.
