ScottishPower sponsors GEC

SCOTTISHPOWER has become the headline partner for the 2012 Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) in Liverpool.

The firm has agreed to be a Platinum sponsor of the event, which will host a summit day at Arena & Convention Centre Liverpool tomorrow with headline speakers including Sir Richard Branson, Lord Heseltine, former Tesco CEO Terry Leahy and Lastminute.com co-founder Martha Lane-Fox .

As part of its sponsorship package Scottish Power will be play a key role in the GEC’s main summit programme taking part in a debate on shaping cities of the future.

It will also host a major event after the Congress on developing Liverpool’s smart city ambitions alongside Liverpool City Council and Liverpool Vision.

Frank Mitchell, chief executive of ScottishPower Energy Networks, said: “The GEC is a great opportunity for Liverpool to transform itself into a globally-recognised
home of entrepreneurship.
