Home improvements group builds workforce

HOME improvement company Job Worth Doing is creating 150 jobs in the next few months amid surging demand for its services,

The Winsford, Cheshire company,  run by Sale Sharks rugby club’s co-owner Ian Blackhurst is lookig to double turnover to £60m by 2014.

It is looking to hire skilled tradesmen and women suuch as plumbers, builders electricians and decoraters nationwide.

Since the start of the year it says business has increased 80% with the number of home improvement projects it carries out rising from 1,000 a week to 1,800.

The company believes the increase in business can partly be attributed to the continued weakness of the housing market.

Mr Blackhurst said: “With the housing market the way it is and more and more people struggling to sell their homes, an increasing number of homeowners are deciding to stay put. This often means carrying out improvement work to their existing property and that’s where we come in.

“We have had a fantastic start to 2012 and we expecting both our direct to consumer and our affiliate business to continue growing at pace this year as people struggle with increasingly busy lifestyles and are adopting the ‘GSI’ (Get Someone In) approach to home improvement.”

Job Worth Doing operates a nationwide network of over 1,000 trades professionals.
