Dental services firm branches out with acquisition

A £10m turnover Cheshire company which supplies the dental sector has branched out with an acquisition.
Winsford-based DBG – which is owned by private equity firm Synova Capital – has bought Nottingham firm TAG Medical for an undisclosed sum.
The deal has been supported with finance from The Co-operative Bank’s
south Manchester corporate banking centre, which has provided a five-year loan to the company.
DBG employs 80 people and supplies of dental engineering, training and clinical products to more than 7,500 dental practices, while TAG inspects, tests and calibratesmedical equipment in 2,000 GP practices, 130 hospitals and 510 pharmacies.
David Menton, a managing partner at Synova and director of DBG, said: “TAG is an excellent fit with DBG’s business. This transaction will add the GP, hospital and pharmacy markets to DBG’s already established presence in the dental market where it accounts for more than 70% of practices as customers.”
Ian Heesom, of The Co-operative Bank added: “DBG has been a customer of ours since the MBO in 2010 and we were delighted to provide this additional funding to assist with the further growth of the business via the acquisition of TAG.”
